DREAM TEAMS

Anyone who talks about football amongst mates will have done this a 'dream' team. On Monday we had an hour and a half's discussion, including the topic of a dream team. Jesse supports Newcastle, and therefore did his dream Newcastle XI, Will supports Man United, and did his. The team is made out of players that have played for the club before, using any formation they wanted. All players are assumed to have been at the peak of their career.

NEWCASTLE XI:

                                             GIVEN

         COLOCCINI          S.TAYLOR              J. WOODGATE

 MILNER                           BATTY                                 L. ROBERT

               BEARDSLEY                               SPEED

                         SHEARER                   CARROLL

This is my (jesse) dream team based on who I have grown up watching and supporting.

MAN UNITED XI

                                                  SCHMEICHAEL

G.NEVILLE                                  J.STAAM                      D.IRWIN

                                   R.KEANE (C)           P.SCHOLES

G.BEST                                E.CANTONA                  C.RONALDO

                                     D.YORKE             V.NISTELROOY

Gutted to leave off players like Beckham, Rooney, Giggs, Cole, Vidic etc but they'd all make the bench.

Expect many more of these to come...

  1. The Man Utd XI is a joke. To start the players don't work in the formation. Two fullbacks in a back three makes no sense, the aim of a back three is essentially, three narrow CB's with the wingers working back. Which again points wholes in your line-up as neither Ronaldo or Best tracked back. The personal is also shocking. No mention for Paul Parker or Bill Foulks both of whom were twice the player Neville ever was. At centre-back i would have gone for Gary Pallister or Steve Bruce to Partner McGrath. Players which you haven't even mentioned! Your midfield also reveals your complete ignorance of any player before about 1992 as you completely ignore Nobby Stiles, Sammy McCllroy and Ray Wilkins, as well as Paul Ince, Gordon Strachan and Bryan Robson. But the most shocking part of your midfield selection is the lack of Bobby Charlton. Charlton is in the top 3 players ever to pull on a United and England shirt and you replace him with Scholes? Your ignorance amazes me. Up front you have Yorke. Possibly the most average player you could have chosen. Dwight Yorke scored about 50 goals in 95 odd appearances whilst his strike partner Andy Cole scored 185 in 195 games. There is also no mention for Mark Hughes, Brian Kidd, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Norman Whiteside. Perhaps the best player overlooked by you is Dennis Law. Undoubtedly, one of the greatest British players ever and yet you don't seem to agree. All round your selections are awful. I'm not even a United fan but this offended me. Go do blogs about Art and stop pretending you like football...

  2. haha his complete ignorance for any players before 1992? hmmm I wonder why that would be... anyone with half a brain cell would realise that might possibly be the year of his birth?

you clearlyt have some strong views.. why don't you blog your own football teams if his opinion pisses you off that much? if your day job isn't debating about football I would quit it.

Did it ever occur to you that 'dream' teams are fantasy and reailty doesnt really come into it does it you absolute fucking mug. I cant honestly say that I know bobby charlton well enough to put him in, if it was a selection of the best ever than fair enough. you absolute fucking loser writing than essay, FUCK OFF LAD.

  4. Well then you need to clarify that. Also, Patrick, he has Best in there and if you didn't know, he didn't play in 92. So calm down, and go do some proper thinking before you start acting and like a little girl again and post stupid article's about how Fletcher is better than Fabregas.

  5. wow t.bakes, thanks for the first real comments on our blog! This is jesse, co-creator of De Godenzonen. Your opinion is great, really amusing to be honest, yet you clearly don't understand the concept of a personal dream team. Those are players chosen by will who he wanted to be in his FANTASY man united team. It has no relevance to what you think based on formations and statistics, and you cannot therefore insult him based on your views. I bet your comment made you feel really clever, i mean i know i would feel great trying to rip it out of a 17 year old football fan! Now kindly give it a rest.

  6. i'm 17 as well so i don't see your point. And to be honest, i merely insulted his choices and there connotations opposed to your co-creator who made no valid points and just called me a Cunt. So no, my comment did not make me feel clever, however, Will's comment did.

  7. well i'm 18 and told you to give it a rest and you know what they say, always respect your elders t.bakes. Now I think it would be very pleasant if you would hush hush, you are giving me a headache with your incessant commenting.

  8. It would be my pleasure to leave you two 'Masterminds' to it. It appears to be going well

  9. Also sorry to bother you again t.bakes, but a little unsure where some of your information is coming from... Will dosn't once mention Darren Fletcher in his article on Fabregas, yet you still say "stupid article's about how Fletcher is better than Fabregas." You also state "Go do blogs about Art and stop pretending you like football..." which has nothing to do with Will who has no interest in art whatsoever... Surely then you are addressing/insulting me and know of my other interests?
This is all quite funny really, makes me curious, a bit like a little mystery... Would you mind telling us your name t.bakes?

  10. Yeah it does seem like i appear to misquoted, i apologise for this. I didn't actually know either of you did of art blogs, i'm sorry to say i made a judgement based on nothing.

  11. would never put paul ince in a dream team over keane or scholes...bellend

  12. just for the record, G. Best is a fucking legend thats why i'm not surprised he was put in. Not a single player can take the ball past defenders like he did with refs in his time that wouldnt award a foul for a two foot takle from behind.

  13. hi boys
my name is tom and i set up this account with my cousin to do an american football blog. I showed him your blog after someone had showed it to me. So i'm sorry for the way he puts across his views, it's pretty rude and unnecessary to be honest and it makes me look pretty shitty. He's an arsenal fan it that helps explain a anything he said.
    Sorry again boys

  14. thanks for being so honest tom bacon. I don't know why but we thought you were a Stoke fan... Not true?

    ReplyDelete
  15. also how do you know my name?

  16. people aren't very good at secret keeping, and it also only seems fair that we know the name of the person who so heavily criticized our fairly new and improving blog. Bit weird of you to have such a go especially as you dont know either of us and this is just for a bit of our fun, but whatever mate.
